Ruth O’Connell (Leaving cert class of 2020) was recently awarded an Quercus Scholarship in UCC which is worth €1000, Ruth is studying Biological and Chemical Science and is nearing the end of the first year. Currently she is on a study session before heading into a 2 week session of exams. Ruth says the course is “fantastic” and she is really enjoying it. In second year she has many options and is thinking about pharmaceutical chemistry at the moment. This year she says was a little different from what she imagined. Pre Christmas she stayed in Cork as there were many lab sessions and post Christmas it was back to online learning at home! Ruth attributes her love of chemistry to the wonderful science teachers in Pres, especially her chemistry teacher, Ms. Rita O’Donoghue. We wish Ruth all the best for her future studies.
