Dear Parent,
School Year 2020-2021
Book lists and uniform information for the coming year are available now on the website.
We will not be operating a reception are in the school over the summer or upon our return to school. Parents are asked to address any queries to office@prestralee.ie
Going forward we will be using your email addresses and the website to send letters rather than sending paper versions. Please ensure that we have your email address if you have not already done so.
Please note – our office is closed for the month of July but will re-open in August.
We are in the process of placing all of our application forms on our website. Go to the policies/downloads section and you now have a 3rd option from the dropdown tab – forms.
We are beginning the annual roll over form this school year to next from close of business on Friday 19th June – you will not have access to VSWARE until August.
We hope to conclude the roll over for next year on Way 2 Pay by the end of June or beginning of July
Changes
We are now hard at work planning for the re-opening of our school, as per public health regulations, in September. We do not know yet the details of the exact dates for your daughters’ return to school or of how our school will operate when we do return.
At the moment the school is shut and we have extensive renovation works underway. We are working on the waterpipes, replacing old flooring, renovating the bathrooms, installing new partitions, replacing some older furniture, upgrading our computer servers and installing new more powerful computers in every room.
The Board of Management have engaged the services of ARK Consultancy to ensure that we introduce the best systems possible to protect your daughters’ health and the health of all the staff upon our return in September.
We are placing an information leaflet for both parents and student in the downloads section of the website. But please be aware that these may/will be updated as regulations change before and upon our return to school.
An Appeal
As you can see from above the Board of Management has spent very significant sums of money in upgrading the facilities in school for the benefit and safety of our students. This is the third year in succession that we have undertaken such works. We now have the planning permission and majority of the funding in place to work on the access gates to the school next summer.
We also know that new cleaning systems will be required for school cleaning and for personal protection. We do not know what additional funding, if any, will be available from the department to meet these additional costs. I fully understand that this is a very difficult time for many of our families, but I am appealing to parents to make whatever voluntary contributions you can.
All of the money that you donate is spent on improvements for our students.
With our way 2 pay system you can pay whatever you can whenever you can. For public health we will be operating a cashless system next year and would encourage all parents to use our Way 2 Pay system – we also have a credit card reader and students will be able to bring cards to school and pay securely if desired.
On behalf of the school management and staff, I wish to thank you for your support of our school community to date.
I would like to wish all of our students and parents and your families all the best this Summer and we look forward to welcoming you back in September.
Le meas,
Mary Kennelly
