Cara Credit Union introduced a new initiative to secondary schools in Kerry in early 2024 and we in Pres Tralee were fortunate to be part of it.
The initiative aims to equip Transition year students with essential interview skills and provide students with invaluable first hand interview tips and techniques. The new initiative called ‘CU through your interview’ was launched with Credit Union & Mary Lucey of Career Ahead.
Their first task was to meet all Transition Year classes here in Pres on Wednesday 25th September and teach the students how to complete an impressive Curriculum Vitae They also equipped the students with vital interview skills and techniques as well as helping the students to develop answers that showcased their relevant strengths and skills. Following on from this workshop representatives from Cara Credit Union and Mary Lucey returned to the school where they conducted mock interviews for the whole day on Tuesday 12th November. Each Transition Year student was interviewed for 15 minutes on a chosen job and after each interview the student was provided with constructive feedback on their C.V and mock interview.
To quote one student after the interview ‘The mock interview was a fantastic experience and it allowed me to hone in on my strengths and skills and also pin point areas that I need to improve on‘
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Cara Credit Union and Mary Lucey for their expertise, knowledge and commitment to our Transition Year students in Pres Tralee. The future looks bright!
