“Invest in Women, Accelerate” Progress Event

The Business Department in Presentation Secondary School hosted an event on Friday the 8th of March for International Women's Day 2024. Our theme this year was "Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress" Our approach to the event this year was to highlight the role of successful business women from various backgrounds. We invited a number of past pupils and businesswomen from the Tralee into the school and asked them to take part in a question-and-answer session. Ms Deirdre Walsh, MC Radio Kerry spearheaded the event by asking our guests about their career choices and their approach to dealing with challenges in their area.

Our panel included:
Carol Brick, Hermoney.ie
Katie Ahern, Executive Developer in Strategic Planning with Enterprise Ireland
Emma O'Connor Eileen's Beauty Salon
Heather O'Sullivan John Ross Jewellers
Catherine Moylan Senior Lecturer MTU.
We also had the honour of having Special Guest Don O'Neill, Irish Designer in the school for the event.

Their message was simple put time and effort into developing your career and take every opportunity that is offered to you. They encouraged them to "Always believe in yourself and reach for the stars".

The event was split into two sessions, a morning Q&A with our guests and in the afternoon our students presented their own business ideas in a Dragon's Den style. We want to thank our amazing guests for making this a unique and memorable occasion for our students.
