Well done to all members of the Green School Committee that have just been awarded their latest Green Flag for Travel. Over the past two years the committee have been working hard encouraging the school and wider community to consider more environmentally friendly travel choices. The committee has members from 1st year to 6th year. They deserve a huge amount of credit for their efforts. The work that they do is really having a positive impact. Over the past two years they have achieved a great deal. The Green School notice board along the main corridor is full of eye catching posters. Over the past two years the committee have been busy informing the school community about sustainable travel choices, Green School events and activities. The school has participated in many of An Taisces events including Walk to School Week, a WOW day (Walk on Wednesday) and a No idling week. Sustainable travel was promoted by Sustainable Karaoke a team of four TY students. The team won the SEAI One Good Idea Regional final in Cork earlier this year. The committee have worked so well together and recognise the importance in taking action for their Environment.
Unfortunately, due the current situation, there will not be Green-Schools Awards Ceremonies this year. As soon as it is safe to do so will receive our Green Flag and certificate and we will celebrate with a flag raising event. For now the Green School Staff have been busy creating videos to celebrate this success with you.
Have a look at the links below and share this success with your family.
We in Pres are so proud of our Green School Committee, thank you for all you have done.
