Career Guidance and Counselling

Presentation provides a supportive, inclusive and compassionate guidance and counselling service to all students. Our Guidance Counsellors are readily available and willing to provide the necessary information, advice and support to our students to support their Personal, Social, Academic and Career development.

Counselling

Our Guidance and Counselling Team work with individual students and year groups on a variety of issues inclusive of:

  • Exam Preparation
  • Relationships
  • Identity
  • Bullying,
  • Self Esteem/ Peer Pressure,
  • Anxiety
  • Isolation
  • Pregnancy
  • Abuse – psychological, physical or sexual,
  • Bereavement and Grief
  • Depression
  • Self-Harm
  • Eating Disorders
  • Drug and Alcohol Addictions

Students are welcome to request appointments. Year Heads and Parents together with the Student Care Team may also liaise with our Guidance and Counselling Team to request appointment if concerned about students.

Career Guidance

Career guidance is a process of providing guidance on choosing the right career path. It is a comprehensive, developmental program designed to assist individuals in making and implementing informed educational and occupational choices. The guidance helps individuals acquire the knowledge, skills, information and experiences necessary to identify career options and inform career directions. Career Guidance helps individuals achieve their career options and acquire professional goals. Our Guidance Counsellor aims to help our students define their career choice and the optimum route to achieving it achieving great heights.  Career and Guidance Classes are timetabled throughout the Senior Cycle Programme (TY to 6th Year).

  • Senior Cycle Subject Choice
  • Third level Applications e.g. CAO, UCAS, PLC, SOLAS

  • Career Investigations
  • College/ Career Visits
  • Visiting Speakers and Career Specialists

Individual one-to-one Career appointments are made available for all senior students in advance of CAO/ UCAS application deadline to ensure they are suitable informed to complete applications.
