A Proud Moment for Our School: Congratulations to Ciara, Laoise, and Saoirse, Winners of the BT Young Scientist Competition 2025!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our school is home to this year’s BT Young Scientist Competition winners! The sisters were presented with their prize at a ceremony in Dublin's RDS by one of our own Pres girls, now Minister for Education Norma Foley. A huge congratulations to our incredible students Ciara, Laoise, and Saoirse, whose ground-breaking project has earned them this prestigious title.
Their achievement is nothing short of extraordinary. Competing against the brightest young minds in Ireland, their innovative project, ACT (Aid Care Treat): App-timising emergency response stood out for its creativity and depth of research. Their dedication to science, combined with their curiosity and drive, has truly paid off, and we are so proud of their success!
Ciara, Laoise, and Saoirse’s project is a shining example of how young people can harness the power of science to solve real-world problems. The judges were deeply impressed by their original ideaad their ability to present a solution that could have meaningful benefits for society.
This remarkable accomplishment is a testament to their hard work and passion for learning. Their success has not only brought immense pride to our school but will also serve as an inspiration to all our girls to dream big and strive for excellence.
Behind this incredible achievement is the unwavering support of their dedicated teacher, Ms. Helena Madigan, whose guidance has been invaluable to Ciara, Laoise, and Saoirse throughout their journey. Her expertise, encouragement and direction were instrumental in helping the girls reach this remarkable milestone.
The BT Young Scientist Competition is one of Ireland’s most prestigious events, winning this award is an exceptional honour. Ciara, Laoise, and Saoirse’s achievement is not only a outstanding moment for our school but a continuation of a proud legacy. This marks our second overall win in the competition, following our previous success in 2008 when Emer Jones won for her project 'Research and Development of Emergency Sandbag Shelters.'
To Ciara, Saoirse and Laoise: Congratulations on this amazing milestone! You have made your school, your families and your community immensely proud. May this victory be the continuation of a journey filled with new discoveries, opportunities and boundless possibilities.
