Margaret Barry, senior History teacher, attended the opening of a permanent exhibition on Thomas Frances Meagher and the tri colour at the GPO Witness History Museum on Friday 23rd of Feb.
2018 marks the 170th anniversary of the first flying of our national flag by TF Meagher. This event was opened by the Ceann Comhairle. The History Department is affiliated to the TF Meagher Foundation which aims to teach young people and all our citizens, to respect the true meaning behind our national flag. The words Pride, Respect and Peace are printed on lapel pins that our fourth year students will sell to fundraise for a charity chosen by the school.
National Flag Day will take place on Friday 15th March and Presentation staff and students will take pride that the tri colour will be flying proudly over our school. We are conscious that our flag instils respect for peace among all people on our island and an acceptance of diversity in our nation.
