Active School Week

Active Schools Week took place from Monday 23rd to Friday 27th April.

The Sports Committee held various events during the week to help students become more motivated and interested in being active and exercising.

On Monday, there was a dodgeball tournament for teachers and students. Tuesday, there was a dance class for 5th years. We had fun runs and games for first and second years on Friday morning.

Throughout the week students were encouraged to walk a lap around the school's Slí na Sláinte to be in for a chance to win a raffle and get some fantastic prizes!

We would like to thank all students and teachers for taking part in the week's activities.

Also we would like to congratulate all of the students and teachers who won prizes throughout the week.

5th Year Students make presentation to Inspired

National Flag Day was held in Pres on 15th March 2018 in collusion with the Thomas Francis Meagher Foundation. Our school is affiliated to the foundation whose aim is to encourage respect for our national symbol, the tricolour and to get young people involved in active citizenship under the inclusive banner of the tricolour.

The foundation sent out all participating schools flag pins to be worn by staff and students on the day. The fifth year history students took charge of events on the day and sold the pins, bearing an emblem of our flag with the words PRIDE RESPECT PEACE printed on them. Over one morning, they raised 380 euros. The students decided to donate the entire sum to a local community project called Inspired.
Inspired works to help and encourage young people with learning disabilities to live independent lives. We felt that collecting with the aim of helping this valuable local project that does not benefit from government funding was a great example of how young people can help each other in the community.
On Friday 4th May, representatives and clients from Inspired came to Pres to collect the cheque. We were honoured to hand over our small donation and hope to establish further links with this worthwhile community initiative in the future.
