In the Senior cycle we broaden our knowledge of the language and develop a familiarity with journalistic French. We deal with topical subjects of the day as well as developing an understanding of literary texts. We further develop our speaking and listening skills and also build on and enhance our written skills.

French culture also takes pride of place in our language learning. To that end we watch French films, enjoy a trip to the cinema or a show from a visiting French theatrical company. We also enjoy many cross-curricular opportunities with the following subjects -Art, Home Economics, Geography, History and IT. Transition year Students also undertake projects on the various French regions and will also help organise a Language and Cultural Awareness week in the week 13th-17th January, 2014.

We are pleased that our excellent Leaving Certificate French results 2014 well exceeded national averages. However we look forward to further enjoyment and successes in French this academic year. The emphasis is on enjoyment and opening up to another culture. We would hope that whether or not the student continues with French studies that they have sufficient knowledge of the language and have developed a broad interest and love for the country.
