The Transition Year offers the opportunity to build and enlarge upon the experience of English in the Junior Certificate. Following the general principles of that syllabus, it aims at providing a broad and solid foundation for the Leaving Certificate course and for life in general. Students also receive certification in Speech and Drama.

TY students attended Operation Education at Writers Week on Thursday 28th May 2015.
Writers Week is an arts extravaganza for lovers of all things literary. Students were wowed by the myriad of events which ranged from inspirational speaker Joanne O Riordan of the “NO LIMBS NO LIMITS” documentary, world acclaimed poet Paul Durcan, hip hop artist extraordinaire Elaine Harrington, teen writer Sarah Webb and so much more.
Students met with the poet Paul Durcan at his workshop at Listowel Writers Week and Aishat Lawal who shares a birthday with Paul Durcan was presented with a copy of his poems by the poet to mark their unique connection!

SIVE: OCTOBER 14 TH
Transition year students attended Sive in Siamsa Tíre on Tuesday October 14th but 25 students were also fortunate enough to participate in a workshop on Tuesday morning with the Abbey Players. "It was a really fun morning and we learned a great deal about the characters and the themes in the play" said student Doireann Morgan.Following the evening performance, the students had the opportunity to meet with John B Keane's wife, Mary.
